Commission to discuss export quotas for ferrous metallurgy products

IVANOVO, June 21 (Itar-Tass) - A Russian government commission for
industry will meet on Saturday, June 21, to consider export quotas for
products of ferrous metallurgy and scrap metal, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin told reporters on Friday.

Sechin underlined that "nobody is seeking to indiscriminately adopt
decisions on higher export quotas."

"We're seeking not so much to increase prices, as to lower production
costs in this field of industry," he said.

"The government will be paying attention to this problem when handling
it," he added.

The Saturday session is "a kind of reference conference over exports
of metallurgy products."

"But I wish to underline that it's the first approach to the problem.
The results of the commission's work will be reported to the prime
minister, who is likely to chair a meeting over this theme," he said.

When asked if the commission would discuss export quotas for coal,
Sechin said "I think coal deserves a separate quota."
