Foreign businessmen at a symposium on investment in Yemen
SANA'A, June 22 (Saba) - US, British, French, Belgian, Canadian,
Egyptian, Jordanian and Comorian businessmen and representatives
from the World Bank's private sector network member states are
participating in a symposium on the investment climate in Yemen.
The symposium is being held in Sana'a and organized by the World Bank's Private Sector Network. A similar symposium was held in Cairo last Thursday, Director general of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry Muhammad al-Maitami said.
The symposium is dedicated for thrashing out issues linked to
investment climate with a focus on legal and institutional
environments in the country and privileges granted for foreign
investors.
Moreover, it will introduce the participants to promising
investment opportunities in Yemen.
General director of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry Muhammad al-Maitami expected agreements between Yemeni
businessmen and their counterparts in the member states of the
World Bank's Private Sector Network to be signed, pointing out that
some European like to strike deals on exporting Yemeni coffee and
honey to their countries.
Yemen took part in the 12th Arab Investors' Conference which was
held in Lebanon's capital Beirut.
The two-day meeting dealt with several axes in relation to
investment climate in the Arab states and wanted reforms in this
regard, showing these countries related experiences as well as
issues of investment in the economic field and the role of the
banking sector.
Yemen chaired a discussion during which it discussed issues
related to investment in the country and investment opportunities
and features in various fields.
In addition, reviewed economic, administrative and
banking developments that it is pursuing to achieve comprehensive
development.
