PEACEKEEPERS PAY TRIBUTE TO MILITARY BANNER



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Servicemen of the 9th contingent to participate in the UN peacekeeping operations paid Thursday a tribute to the banner of the Armed Forces. Mongolia's military group will serve in Sierra-Leone.
Present at the farewell ceremony were S.Baasankhuu, Vice Minister of Defense; a Major-General M.Borbaatar, the State Secretary of the Defense Ministry; Brigadier-General B.Bayarmagnai, deputy head of the General Headquarters of Mongolia's Armed Forces.
As of today, military personnel of the Armed Forces and observers are serving in the UN's and other international operations in nine countries. Mongolia started sending its troops to Sierra Leone in the year of 2006.
This time, the 9th contingent with 150 servicemen will be there for six months ensuring a security of international special court organized by the UN.
The group comprises military servicemen from 21 units of the Armed Forces, the Central Intelligence Agency, the General Police Department, frontier troops and domestic troops.
