ABOUT WORKS DONE BY STANDING COMMITTEE

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Parliamentary Standing committee on economy gave Thursday a report on its works done in a period of the autumn session. The basic directions, which were adopted at the autumn session on privatizing and reforming state property in the years 2010-2012, focused on enhancing participation of private sector in economy, promoting the competitiveness among companies in a way of attracting domestic and foreign investors and creating a proper form for a partnership between the state and private sector.
The basic directions also included some other matters--to transfer state-owned stocks of the strategic importance deposits to incorporated companies and to exchange some pieces of these stocks in foreign and domestic markets by several stages and by traditional methods of privatization and concession contracts.
Thanks to approval of the law on the capital assessment, capital assessment experts are provided with a legal framework to independently do their work and in accordance with the international standards and without outside influence.
In the period, working groups got acquainted with activities of the "Erdenet" Mining Corporation, implementation course of the basic directions of the state currency policy in 2009, situation at the Mongol Bank's fund, implementation of the projects and measures for the auto road's sector with investments of 2009, the state budget, the fund for development of Mongolia, a performance of investment projects and measures for the sector of renewable energy and its financing.
Within the session's interval, Standing committees plans to get au fait with the realization of the measures adopted pursuant to a parliamentary resolution on overcoming economic difficulties and crisis, the implementation of investment projects and measures on renewable energy and the laws on small- and middle-sized production and on mineral resources, and the situation in preparation for exploiting the biggest mineral deposits, including the Tavan toolgoi. It also plans to control over implementation of decision and resolutions issued by the State Great Khural and Standing committees among related Ministries and administrations of localities.
