Bio-fuel refinery to be constructed in Vientiane

(KPL) The government has given the green light to the Kolao Farm and
Bio-diesel Energy Co., to construct the first bio-fuel refinery in Laos.

Deputy Minister of Investment and Planning, Mr Thongmy Phommysay, and
President of Kolao Farm and Bio-diesel Energy Co., Mr Rovon Soi, signed the
memorandum of understanding on the construction of the refinery last
Wednesday here in the presence of relevant officials.

According to the signed document, the company will conduct a feasibility
study on the plantation of jatropha and industrial crops and the
construction of the refinery on total 50,000 ha, with an investment of
around 600 billion kip (US$70 million), in Vientiane province. It is
believed that the project will benefit people in nine districts of Vientiane
province.

Having around 340 billion kip (US$40 million) of registered investment
capital, Kolao Farm and Bio-diesel Energy Co., invests in agriculture
production and livestock raising, animal feed mill and food processing factory.
