Iran joins UN Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities

Tehran, June 24, IRNA - Iran joined the United Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of State and their Property.

Upon a directive from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad forwarded to the
Foreign Ministry, the ministry is to sign up to membership process of
the UN Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities that agreed by Majlis
last month.

The ministry will report the process to the government on June 8.

The Convention envisages a state which enjoys immunity in respect of
itself and its property, from the jurisdiction of the courts of State
subject to the provisions of the present 33-Article Convention.-End
