UAE grants Dh50million in supplementary aid for refugee camp in Yemen
Abu Dhabi, Feb 18, 2010 (WAM)- Acting upon the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen in solidarity with them, HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces has ordered a grant of Dh50 million to support UAE's Mazraq Camp 2 in Yemen.
The grant will be used for humanitarian services for the Yemenis living in the refugee camp set up by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and strengthen existing efforts in an integrated manner.
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the western region and chairman of the Red Crescent Authority has given directives to continue existing efforts to provide quality services to meet the humanitarian and basic needs of the Yemeni households and families living in the camp.
Camp Mazraq 2 was set up by the RCA as part of its efforts to reduce the humanitarian sufferings in the wake of events in some areas of northern Yemen.
The camp provides basic services, including daily meals, health care and makeshift schools to accommodate students up to secondary level school. -
