PRESIDENT LAUNCHES INDONESIA SAVING MOVEMENT
Jakarta, Feb 20 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced the 'Indonesia Saving Movement' at an international expo event here on Saturday in an effort to stimulate the culture of saving.
On the occasion, the president launched the "TabunganKu" (My Saving) product at the Jakarta International Expo before representatives of community groups, including children.
"What is happening today is a new landmark for banks in accommodating people's savings which is expected to help improve their welfare," President Yudhoyono said.
He said that the launch of the Indonesia Saving Movement was part of the government's pro-people programs.
Yudhoyono said that the pro-people programs, including the "TabunganKu" product had two aspects, namely improving the welfare of the people and increasing justice.
"This is to carry out development for all, inclusive, just and pro-people, particularly people who cannot yet enjoy prosperity," he said.
The Indonesia Saving Movement is a follow up of the "Ayo ke Bank" (let's come to the banks) program launched on January 28, 2008, which was intended to stimulate the culture saving for improving the welfare of the people.
The launching of the "TabunganKu" product was simultaneously carried out in 41 branches of Bank Indonesia, the central bank, on February 20 and 21, 2010.***
