Iran’s “Ask the Wind” wins Crystal Bear at Berlinale

TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (MNA) -- Iran’s “Ask the Wind”, directed by Batin Qobadi, won a Crystal Bear for the Best Short Film at Berlinale’s Generation 14plus Section.

The jury described the film saying that the “movie opened the door on a culture, in which the unimaginable belongs to daily life. We are grateful for this work of art which was convincing both in detail and as a whole,” at the festival’s website.

The film narrates the story of a group of female art students who pay a visit to a village in order to take photographs. A gust of wind blows one of the student’s veils and carries it away. The girl hurries off after her veil and is not far away from the village when she comes across a dead man.

Agostino Imondi and Dietmar Ratsch’s “Neukoelln Unlimited” won Berlinale’s Crystal Bear for best feature in the youth and children’s Generations section.

Serving on the Youth Jury of the section were Mara Erlenmaier, Lea Huber,David Köller, Imke Mayer, Lukas Monath, Lorenz Nolting and Lara Passfall.

Berlinale’s official awards ceremony takes place February 20, although Generations prizes are presented a day earlier.
