FOREIGN MARINE EXPERTS TO ATTEND SEMINAR IN AMBON, INDONESIA
Ambon, Feb 21 (ANTARA) - A number of foreign marine experts have registered to attend a seminar on small islands to be held within the framework of Sail Banda here in July 2010, Maluku Deputy Governor Said Assagaff has stated.
"It has been reported to me that a seminar team from Pattimura University (Unpatti) in Ambon that the foreign marine experts have expressed readiness to serve as resource persons and this is of strategic significance, because they will answser questions about what the world needs in managing the small island which actually have potential natural resources," he said here recently.
"The most important thing of the seminar is a declaration on ideas in saving the small islands which could be used by the Indonesian government during the world-level discussions in Copenhagen by the end of this year, he said.
He said he is coordinating with marine exports of Unpatti Ambon, Universitas Darusalam (Unidar), IAIN, Universitas Kristen Indonesia Maluku (UKIM), STIA and STAKPN for holding a pre-seminar in Ambon by the end of April.
