TAIWAN COMMITTED TO HELPING ACEHNESE CHILDREN'S EDUCATION
Banda Aceh, Feb 21 (ANTARA) - Taiwan is committed to continuing its educational aid for Acehenese children who have fallen victim to the December 2004 tsunami, a spokesman said.
"The Taiwanese government`s support for the Acehnese people particularly in the educational sector will continue. The support will among others come in the form of scholarships," Taiwan`s representative to Indonesia Andrew LY Hsia said on Sunday.
Hsia said he was satisfied with the fact that the Acehnese people had benefited from the Taiwanese aid well.
Taiwan did not set any deadline to assist the Acehnese people so long as there was still Taiwanese NGO there, he said.
In addition, Taiwan would also help the local economy by inviting foreign companies to invest in Indonesia`s western most province, he said.
Hsia was in Aceh to see for himself the development of post-tsunami projects that have received Taiwanese aid.
