NOTION VTEC SET TO EXPAND M'SIAN, THAI OPERATIONS
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Notion Vtec Bhd, a large scale precision
manufacturer, has set aside RM70 million (US$20.58 million) to expand its
operations in Malaysia and Thailand this year.
Executive Chairman Thoo Chow Fah said of the sum, RM40 million (US$11.76
million) would be allocated to create additional floor space for its Thailand
plant while the remaining RM30 million ((US$8.82 million) is to acquire a new
facility in Klang.
The plant in Thailand will have an additional 200,000 sq ft of floor space
and is expected to be operational this year.
On the new local plant, Thoo said the company had identified a six-acre
piece of land near its current facility, also located in Klang.
The new plant is expected to add another 150,000 sq ft of floor space, he
told reporters after the company's annual general meeting (AGM) here Tuesday.
Notion VTec, which last year recorded a revenue growth of 18.5 percent to
RM172.7 million (US$50.8 million), is confident of posting an even better
performance this year.
It aims to achieve between RM220 million ((US$64.7 million) to RM240 million
(US$70.6 million) in sales this year, mainly from its camera and hard disk drive
(HDD) segment.
Although revenue in the Q1FY09 was lower, Thoo said the company started
to see growth in Q2, benefiting from earlier cost cutting measures.
