HOUSE ENDORSES SIX CANDIDATES FOR SUPREME JUSTICE

Jakarta, Feb 23 (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR) endorsed on Tuesday six elected candidates for the post of supreme justice and will soon submit them to the president for selection.

The six were chosen from 20 candidates at a plenary session after they had undergone fit and proper tests on February 15-18.

More than half of lawmakers present at the plenary session led by Deputy DPR Chairman Priyo Budi Santoso voted for the six candidates.

They are Salman Luthan, lecturer of the school of law at the Yogyakarta-based Islamic University of Indonesia, Soltoni Mohdally, judge at the Banjarmasin appellate court, H. Yulius, judge at the Jakarta state administrative court, H. Supandi, judge at the Supreme Court, Surya Jaya, professor of the school of law at Makassar-based Hasanuddin University and Achmad Yamanie, deputy chief of the Banjarmasin appellate court.***
