SMALL TEAM COMPILES FACTIONS` VIEWS ON CENTURY CASE

Jakarta, Feb 24 (ANTARA) - A small team will compile the final views of the party factions in the House committee investigating the Bank Century bailout at Hotel Sultan from Wednesday through Thursday, the committee's chief said.

Idrus Marham, the committee's chairman, said here on Wednesday the committee had agreed to assign a small team to conduct the compiling.

"The committee agreed to assign a small team to compile the party factions' conclusions so that they will be more focussed and effective," he said to newsmen.

He said time was running out as the committee had to submit the report on the committee's conclusions on the case to the House Consultative Body (Bamus) for approval to be discussed at a House plenary session.

Idrus said the small team consists of nine members from nine party factions in the committee.

They include Benny K Harman from the Democrat Party faction, Hendrawan Supratikno from the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle faction (FPDI), Andi Rahmat from the Prosperous Justice Party faction (FPKS), Laurens from the National Mandate Party faction (FPAN), Romahurmuzzy from the United Development Party faction (FPPP), Agus Sulistiono from the Nation Awakening Party faction (FPKB), Akbar Faisal from the People's Conscience Party (FHanura), Ahmad Muzani from the Great Indonesia Movement Party faction (FGerindra) and another one who still had yet to be determined from the Golkar Party.

"The team will be coordinated by committee vice chairman Mahfud Sidiq," he said.

Hendrawan Supratikno said the compilation was carried out by the team so that it could be more focussed.

He was optimistic the compilation would be objective and not biased because it would be watched closely by representatives from all party factions.

"Nine members of the team represent all factions in the House of Representatives," he said.

He said Hotel Sultan had been chosen for the compilation of the conclusions so that the team could be focussed and to give a new atmosphere.

He denied that the place had been chosen to make lobbying among party factions easier.

"It is too expensive for a party to sacrifice its stance as it is already known well by the public," he said.***
