GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS NON-FORMAL EDUCATION IN BALI
Denpasar, Feb 25 (ANTARA) - Bali's provincial government has allocated Rp946.4 million to support the success of non formal education in the province this year.
"The funds are needed to support illiteracy eradication activities," Bali provincial administration's publication and documentation chief I Ketut Teneng said here on Thursday.
He said the activities would cover technical guidance to the study group of people who were unable to read, write, and calculate.
In addition, package B and C tutors would also be provided with training and education program for them to improve the reading and writing ability of the learners.
Ketut Teneng said education sector in Bali was one of Governor Made Mangku Pastika's seven supreme programs in his effort to improve national knowledge and mentality.
The non formal education in various aspects also deals with nine-year basic compulsory education (Wajar) program in Bali.
Especially for nine-year basic compulsory education, the local government has also allocated Rp41.1 billion to support various activities concerning learning and teaching process at elementary school and secondary school levels.
The funds will also be used among others for the establishment of secondary school (SMP) National Olympiad, elementary school Maths and Natural Science Olympiad, and the scholarship for students with low-income parents to study at elementary school and SMP.
