HAIL, WIND HIT BANDUNG CITY ON SUNDAY

Bandung, Feb 28 (ANTARA) - Heavy rain followed by hail and wind hit Bandung city and its surrounding areas on Sunday.

Several areas hit by the rain are Antapani, Cicaheum, Gedebage, Ujungberung and Cileunyi. The strong wind also caused damage to local people's house roofs in areas such as Cidurian, and Cisaranten (Bandung city) as well as Ciparay and Bojongsoang (Bandung district).

Though hail is considered as natural phenomena, the firm frequency of the rain surprised local people.

"We rarely experience hail in Bandung. But now the phenomena occurs in a regular time. In fact, Bandung was hit by hail last week," Deni, a local people, said.

The heavy rain which fell in Bandung city on Sunday was predicted to cause five rivers in the area to overflow their banks namely Cikeruh, Citepus, Cidurian, Cikapundung and Cikawao.

There is also a possibility that the Citarum river will overflow and cause floods in Baleendah and Dayeuhkolot area (Bandung district) which are still inundated by flood waters.
