Ski race
Astana, February 28 2009, Khabar - Winter Olympic Games are ending in Vancouver. Our female biathlon Yelena Khrustaleva won silver in the race for 15 kilometers and fifth place in the other race. Women's and men's teams of ski racing on the tracks of the White Vancouver team race took place on 10 and 11. In order to support the skiers’ national team of Kazakhstan, Astana has organized a ski race, which involved the staff of the ministry of sport and tourism, as well as representatives of the Nur Otan Party. Some of the participants were participating in such an event on the overcoming of a 1 mile distance for the first time.

- Today’s event defines a beginning. In his address to the nation, the president was talking about the development of the mass sport and healthy lifestyle of residents of Kazakhstan.
Vladimir Pashkovsky, Kazakhstan national ice hockey coach:
- We had certain success in the Olympics and a silver medal of Khrustalyova inspired us, sportsmen of national teams and state coaches. We would like to devote this event to the Winter Olympic Games.
