POLICEMAN IN C KALIMANTAN FIRED FOR CONSUMING DRUGS

Muara Teweh, C Kalimantan, March 1 (ANTARA)- A police officer in Barito Utara district, Central Kalimantan province, has been fired after a local court found him guilty of consuming drugs.

The district court recently sentenced Brigadier Domi Agus Purnomo to four months in jail.

As a result, he was fired from the Indonesian police, Deputy Chief of Barito Utara police, Commissioner Muhammad Nur Syam, told newsmen here Monday.

He said the panel of judges found him guilty of using methamphetamine drugs.

"Purnomo has been sacked because he has damaged the police's public image " he said.
