JAKARTA MILY COMMAND READY TO HELP KEEP ORDER AT DPR

Jakarta, March 1 (ANTARA) - The Jakarta military command is ready to help the police deal with possible incidents in demonstrations to be held by students and other groups at the parliament on Wednesday, a spokesman said.

"We have instructed all our personnel to be ready, so anytime the police need our help, we will move," the command's chief, Maj Gen Darpito, said here on Monday.

Various student and elements of the community plan to conduct a demonstration at the parliament (DPR) on Wednesday in connection with a House plenary meeting on the Bank Century bailout case.

Darpito said until now no special request had been received from the police in connection with the expected rallies.

"The important thing is that we are ready. Any time our help is needed, we are ready to deploy our troops," he said.

The Association of Islamic Students' Council of the Organization's Rescuers (HMI-MPO) plans to deploy 500 to 700 people from various cities to demonstrate at the DPR on Wednesday.

"Tomorrow, the committee must have the courage to mention the names of those responsible for the bailout. They must be firm. Two months is enough for analyzing it," the chief of the organization, Chozin Amirullah said.

Other groups to demonstrate on Wednesday are students from a number of universities, the United Indonesia Movement (GIB), the Petition 28 and the United Moslem Front (FUIB).
