Pakistan sign 1,000MW power import agreements with CARs in July
Islamabad, June 28 PP1: Pakistan will sign agreements to import 1000 megawatts electricity from Central Asian Republics (CARs) at Inter-Governmental Council meeting in Islamabad next month.
Stating this Water & Power Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf in talks with Ambassador of
Kyrgyzstan, Nurlan Aitmurzaev here Friday said agreements will be signed among
Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and International Financial
Institutions to import 1000MW and further develop electricity trading arrangements
between Central & South Asian regions at IGC meeting.
Pakistan is facing energy crisis and all measures being taken by government to
bridge gap between demand and supply. The establishment of electricity link between
CARs and South Asia will strengthen economic ties and enhance ties among countries,
he added.
Aitmurzaev said Kyrgyzstan has great electricity potential with surplus power and
provide every possible assistance and technical cooperation.
