Lao economic may faces with high condition for loans

(KPL) Mr. Soulivong Dalavong, Minister of Planing and Investment said during the meeting to brainstorm for promoting the national economic growth that the economic of Laos at present is not directly affected from the world economic crisis but the risk for national economic may receive impact, especially the strong conditions with higher interest of loan may affect to the loan for development.

Mr. Soulivong added that the loaning for develop the hydropower projects or
mining projects, demand of raw material and petroleum products from
developing countries like China and India may immediately decrease.

These will be the main reason affected to the raw material exporters.
Other risk reason is the increased income from the mining sector may be used to recover the import of fuel products which the prices has increased day by day.

All the reasons will be cause for temporary stop of hydropower
project and some mining projects , which may affected to the wave of
national economic growth and the national budget will be negative impact too.

Mr. Soulivong added that the Lao PDR has many great potential and
opportunity, especially its geography which be able to attract more foreign
investment, particularly in the hydropower development and mining sector.
