MAGNITUDE 4.1 QUAKE STRIKES S ACEH



Tapaktuan, Mar 5 (ANTARA) - A magnitude 4.1 quake struck the South Aceh regency capital city of Tapaktuan on Friday (March 5) at 10.53 am local time.

Analyst of the national earthquake center Ardiyatno said from Tapaktuan that the quake's epicenter was located 3.10 degrees northern latitude, and 97.22 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 10 km below sea level, and 18 km southeast of Tapaktuan.

"The quake lasted 10 to 20 seconds but did not a potential to trigger a tsunami," Ardiyatno said.

Documentation, library and public relations subdivision head of the South Aceh regency administration Munharsyam said that the quake had caused widespread panic among the population.
