MALAYSIA, SOUTH KOREA TO ENHANCE 50 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS




TUARAN (Malaysia), March 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and South Korea hope to
further enhance relationship between both countries to commemorate 50 years of
diplomatic relations.

Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said both nations would be looking into
establishing cooperation in new areas such as green technology, renewable
technology and biotechnology.

"Malaysia has conveyed to the South Korean government of a need to
reinvigorate and rejuvenate the Look East Policy to include new areas of
cooperation," he told reporters after a meeting with South Korean Foreign
Affairs and Trade Minister, Yu Myung-Hwan here Saturday.

Anifah also proposed for the establishment of a Malaysia-South Korea
Parliamentary Friendship Association to enhance ties between the
parliamentarians of both countries.

Earlier, Anifah and Yu discussed on the upcoming visit by Korean President
Lee Myung-bak to Malaysia, in conjunction with the nations' 50th anniversary of
diplomatic ties, established on Feb 23, 1960.
