HMI, KAHMI HAVE MISSION OF SAVING ORGANIZATIONS
Makassar, S Sulawesi, March 6 (ANTARA) - The executive boards of the Association of Islamic Students (HMI) and the Corps of HMI Alumni (KAHMI) have a heavy task after recent clash with police, HMI executive board staff Suardi Herik said.
"Our main mission right now is saving the organization due to an allegation that certain individual is seeking to pit it against other institution," he said here on Saturday.
In connection with that the organizations will set up a fact-finding team involving HMI board members and its coordinating board for Eastern Indonesia and KAHMI.
The team to be set up by HMI will seek the truth of the allegation that irresponsible person is seeking to pit HMI against other institution, he said.
The chairman of the coordinating board for Eastern Indonesia, Andi Heny Handayani, said the team would work professionally.
Regarding HMI member of the Makassar chapter, AS (35) alias KC who the police had considered as the perpetrator of the clash between the police and HMI she said that further investigation was still needed.
The chairman of KAHMI South Sulawesi presidium, Prof Dr Amran Razak, meanwhile said that the police and HMI had their own versions of the cause of the incident.
According to the police the cause of the conflict between the police and HMI was a personal dispute between private university student KC and police anti-terror unit Densus 88 member.
"According to the police it was a personal clash between KC and Aipda (second adjunct inspector) Sut who ran into the HMI Makassar office to hide," he said.
But according to the chief of the HMI Makassar office, the incident was the follow up of the demonstration on the Century Bank case, he said.
In view of that KAHMI had suggested that the HMI Makassar chapter took an action by firing its member who tried to damage the HMI image and pit HMI with the police.
