.Russian biathlete Nikolai Kruglov ends his sports career.

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, March 7 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian biathlete Nikolai
Kruglov, who took part in the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, said on
Saturday he ends his sports career.
He took the decision to make this season his last one already last
year. "So I see no point in taking part in the World Cup competitions. I
will end this season by taking part in the last 2009-2010 World Cup stage
in Khanty-Mansiisk. I am very tired psychologically. The national team's
chief coach showed understanding," Kruglov told journalists.
Speaking of the Vancouver Olympics, he noted that "despite no medals
and a unfortunate fall," he was satisfied with his performance. "Vancouver
means very much for me: I am satisfied with the sate I was in before the
Olympics - to my mind, I was in an ideal trim, and by and large I was
ready to take part in all races," he said.
In the 20 kilometers individual race, Kruglov missed no marks but fell
down and broke the rifle sling, taking the 11th place. As he confessed, it
was the first incident of this sort in his entire career of 11 years.
When asked why the Russian team performed so poor, he said evasively
"there was a lack of mutual understanding in the team, a lack of joint
movement in the common direction." In his words, "the team must work as an
organic whole, I mean both medics, massage therapists, coaches and
athletes."
Nonetheless, he noted that Russian male biathletes showed better
performance in Vancouver than they had done in Turin, where they had won
the silver, while in Vancouver - gold and bronze medals.
