ACEH STUDENTS WIN TWO SCIENCE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALS

Banda Aceh, Indonesia, March 7 (ANTARA) - Senior High School (SMA) students of Teuku Nyak Arif Fatih Bilingual School obtained two gold medals for chemistry and biology research projects in the Science Olympiad (ISPO) in Jakarta last Wedneday.

The students who have strived for a good name of Aceh at national level were greeted by teachers and their parents when they arrived at the International Airport of Sultan Iskandar Muda, Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar district, Aceh province on Sunday.

The successful female chemistry students Cut Nyak Savira and Aisyah Minzikrina with their work of making movies from the edible jackfruit seeds.

The seeds can be processed into food packaging materials that can be eaten directly.

The work of another pair, majoring in mathematics, Meutia Rizki Innayah and Ulfa Mazaya, was titled "balanced parentheses", which is looking for the shortest formula for grouping the brackets and associated with number.

In addition, a male pair, Teuku Nyak Arif of the Fatih Bilingual School, T. Muhammad Farhan and Amalul Auni, won a bronze medal for their work of watercress plants which functions as heavy metal bio-filter.

In the meantime, the principal of SMA Nyak Arif Fatih Bilingual School, Takril Azizah said, the accomplishments of the newly established school was a surprise to the world of education in Aceh.

The winners were slated to follow the Olympic arena at international level in 2010 in chemistry in the Netherlands, mathematics in Georgia, and the environment in Azerbaijan.***
