28 UNIVERSITIES TAKE PART IN IV-TH REGIONAL ROBOT CONTEST

Surabaya, E Java, Indonesia, March 7 (ANTARA) - A total of 93 teams from 28 universities taking part in a robot contest which will be held here on May 22-23, 2010, a member of the contest jury council, Endra Pitowarno, said.

The robot contest consisted of the IV-th Regional Indonesian Intelligent Robot Contest (KRI), and Indonesian Artistic Robot Contest (KRSI) covering East Java and East Indonesia. They will be held at the Muhammadiyah University in Malang (UMM).

The IVth Regional KRI-KRCI will be jointed by 93 teams from 28 universities, and the Vth Regional KRI-KRCI covering Sulawesi and n Balikpapan will be jointed by dozens of teams from nine universities.

"While the IVth Regional KRI-KRCI is jointed by only 28 universities, Universitas Udayana of Denpasar and the Denpasar state polytechnic are newcovers," he said.

The 93 teams of the 28 universities joining the IVth Regional contests consisted of 58 robot teams joining the KRCI (28 wheeled robot teams, 16 footed robot teams, and 14 battle robot teams), and 15 teams of KRSI.

"Last year, the KRI team of PENS of the Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS) represented Indonesia in the world robot context in China, but did not won any price, while the Chinese intelligent robot team which represented Indonesia to the United States came from the Bandung Institute of Technology and the Bandung Communications University. The KRCI team is slated to leave for the US in April 2010," he said.***
