INDONESIAN DAVIS TEAM BEATS MALAYSIA 5-0

Kuala Lumpur, March 7 (ANTARA) - The victory of two Indonesian singles tennis players Sunu-Wahyu Trijati and David Agung Susanto, complemented Indonesia's winning streak to 5-0 against the Malaysian Davis team here Sunday.

They were competing in the first round of the Davis Cup, Group II, Asia-Oceania zone, at Run Razak stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

David Agung Susanto beat Mohd Assri Merzuki 6-3 6-3, and Sunu beat Ariez Elyaas 6-4 6-3, earning the Indonesian Davis team a 5-0 victory over Malaysia.

Earlier, Indonesia's number one Sebelumnya, pemain nomor satu Christoper Rungkat beat Ariez Elyaas 6-0 6-1 6-2, and Sunu-Wahyu Trijati beat Malaysian's number one Si Yew Ming 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-2, in the first-day competition on Friday in Kuala Lumpur.

The follwing day, Christoper contributed another victory for the Indonesian team when playing doubles with Ketut Nesa Arta against Malaysian's doubles Adam Jaya and Si Yew Ming 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6). The victory caused Indonesia to beat Malaysia 3:0 from five games.

With the victory, Indonesia would have to face Thailand in July. Thailand waltzed to the second round after beating Pacific Oceania. ***
