Perm terr launches commemoration action '65 Days before Victory'.

PERM, March 8 (Itar-Tass) -- The authorities of the Perm Territory
will plant lilac bushes in 65 'war commemoration courtyards' by the 65th
anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The local
authorities stated about it at the opening of the regional commemoration
marathon '65 Days before the Victory' on Sunday.

The commemoration marathon is the sign of gratitude to all those who
forged the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. More than 140 local
creative teams, over 2,500 culture figures and musicians, who represent
all genres of people's art, will participate in the commemoration marathon.
"This is the sign of gratitude to all those who endured all hardships
of the war," director general of the Perm territorial house of people's
art Tatiana Sannikova told Itar-Tass. "This is the tribute to those who
remember, have their own experience of the war and keep the relics of the
wartimes. Then no person could stay aside. Our marathon includes the
events for people of all ages," she said. For instance, the creative youth
team "Chronicles of the Victory" is designed to expand the history
knowledge of school students. "The school history learning is not
sufficient. For instance, the current young generation easily jokes about
the word Gestapo, just unaware about what it is like. Since they have
taken the interpretation of this fascist agency from the movie about
heroic Soviet spy Schtirlitz," she noted.
The May Lilac action is the brightest one among the offstage events.
"Certainly, the bodies of local self-governments should select 65 yards
for planting lilac bushes. But if a new bush will be raised in each yard
in the territory, we will work already not in vain, as it will be
beautiful," Sannikova noted.
The contest of choreographic works "Impulse" will be dedicated to the
55th birth anniversary of one of the best modern Russian choreographers
Yevgeny Panfilov (1955-2002). "It sounds paradoxically there was no
renowned ballet company in Perm, but for the war. The evacuation of the
Leningrad Mariinsky Theatre in Perm brought about our choreographic
school. Yevgeny Panfilov who staged the ballets "BlokAda" (Siege of Hell)
and "Women, the Year 1945" gave a new idea to the military patriotic
theme," Sannikova said.
On the agenda of the war commemoration marathon are the day of draftee
"Fathers bequeathed our duty and honour," concerts of children's companies
"Children of the peace to the children of the war," a cycle of retro-dance
parties "Dances to the accompaniment of the gramophone." "The frontline
agitprop brigade" will tour the towns and villages of the territory. The
military field game "From Moscow to Brest" will be held on May 9, a
festival of brass orchestras "The silver trumpets are blowing" will be
held on May 15.
The motto "65 Days before the Victory" is not accidental. In early
March 1945, just 65 days before the historic Victory, the Soviet Union
Committee for Art Affairs held a festival of amateur choirs and vocalists.
For instance, the choir of women, who were restoring the Kreshchatik
Avenue, performed in Kiev, the choir of Belarusian guerillas gave a
concert in Minsk, the organizing committee of the war commemoration
marathon in the Perm Territory said.

.US women to celebrate International Women's Day.

Albright and other outstanding women were invited to the reception.
Activists of U.S. women's organizations will hold rallies, marches and

.Iran president to visit Afghanistan.

TEHRAN, March 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
will pay a visit in Afghanistan on Monday. Along with bilateral relations
he will discuss with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai the ways to
settle the problems in Afghanistan, the Mehr news agency reported.
This will be the first meeting of the presidents of the countries
after their reelection for the second term in the previous year. The visit
will short and will last one day.
Iran refused to participate in the London international conference on
Afghanistan late January 2010. Tehran stated then that the country
considers this forum "useless and groundless," expressing confidence that
it "will not contribute to the solution of Afghan problems, as it is
convened just to build up the foreign military presence in this country."
Iranian officials stated more than once that Afghan problems cannot be
solved in military ways and are just aggravated by the deployment of the
foreign military contingent. According to Tehran, the settlement in
Afghanistan can be achieved just through reaching accord between various
Afghan forces with the mediating role of regional countries.
