POLICE ARREST TWO ACEH TERRORIST ARMS DEALERS
Jakarta, Mar 8 (ANTARA) - The police arrested two suspected terrorist fire arms suppliers in Aceh Besar regency, National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri said.
"The two arms dealers were caught in West Java and Jakarta," he said in Jakarta Monday.
The national police chief made the statement after attending a function of signing an MoU on road traffic discipline between the police and the National Education Ministry.
But he could not tell where the two got the fire arms from.
He said the police already got the identities of those who got away.
He also said the police has changed their ways and methods of catching terrorist suspects after three police officers were killed and ten others injured during raids.
The two suspects who had been caught, brought the number of suspects already arrested to 19, including the three who were shot dead, while the 14 suspects who were caught last week were held at the Salemba jail, and at the Kelapa Dua dtention center, Depok, West Java.
The police chief pointed out that the terrorist gangs in Aceh have no relations with the Aceh Freedom Movement (GAM).
Two weeks ago, the police also raided a group in Jantho forest, Aceh Besar, but they managed to got away into the forests and villages.
The police, however, managed to arrest 15 suspects, including one killed, following a shootout in the forests.
Two villagers trapped in the shootout were also killed.
