MONGOLIA TO STUDY INDONESIA'S COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

Jakarta, Mar 8 (ANTARA) - Mongolia will be learning more about the independent community empowerment national program (PNPM) in Indonesia for application there.

"Actually we already have a similar program in Mongolia, but they wish to learn more from Indonesia," the Sustainable Livelihood Program Project Manager of the office of the Welfare Coordinating Ministry Aditya said here Monday.

The Mongolian delegation came to the office of the Welfare Coordinating Minister to expressed their wish to learn more about the PNPM program in Indonesia for application in their country.

Aditya said said the PNPM program in Indonesia was very successful, which caused the Mongolians to become very interested in learning more about the program in Indonesia.

He said the second stage of the SLP program is carried out in all the 21 provinces in Mongolia.

"This program is focused on efforts at improving the economy of poor families," he said.

SLP covers four activities, namely increase in quantity, quality and responsibility in the management of cattle, encouraging the community in development activities and planning, increasing access of rural communities to funding resources and securing the quality of program implementation and increasing the capacity of the community.

In the meantime, deputy for poverty eradication of the coordinating minister for social welfare Sudjana Royat said the Indonesian government welcomed the Mongolian interest in studying the PNPM program in Indonesia.
