AUSTRALIAN NAVY DELEGATION MEETS KUPANG MAYOR
Kupang, Mar 8 (ANTARA) - An Australian Navy delegation on Monday met with Kupang Mayor Daniel Adoe in connection with a joint patrol with the Indonesian navy in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) waters.
The brief meeting with the Australian delegation led by Major James which was also attended by Kupang administration officials here was facilitated by head of the Naval Maritime Potential Service in Kupang Major Agus Pramono.
In the brief meeting Major James said his side will be patroling NTT waters along with the Indonesian Navy based in Kupang.
"This is a routine program with the Indonesian Navy," he said.
Mayor Daniel Adoe supported the joint patrol in the NTT waters, as the joint patrol would have a good impact on illegal fishing in those waters.
"Many local fishermen had been using explosives in their fishing operations which destroy marine biota," Adoe said.
