SUSPECTED TERRORIST SHOT DEAD IN SOUTH TANGERANG

Tangerang, Mar 9 (ANTARA) - A man suspected to be a terrorist was shot dead in a police raid on an internet outlet at the Puri Pamulang shophouse complex at Pamulang, in south Tangerang city, on Tuesday.

"The man believed to be a terrorist was shot dead by members of a Special Detachment (Densus) 88 team when ha was accessing the internet on the second floor of our shop," the manager of the Multiplus internet outlet, Linda Diana, said.

The body of the still unidentified man was taken away in an ambulance in the direction of south Jakarta.

Linda said the man came to the internet outlet on a motorcycle accompanied by a woman at around 11.30 am WIB. When he entered the internet outlet, the woman headed to the Rinova beauty shop located next to the internet outlet.

After entering the internet outlet, the man went up to the second floor and sat down in cubicle 9. Then a number of Densus 88 members came and raided the shop while firing shots.

As soon as they heard the shots, all people in the internet shop hit the floor or took cover while the Densus 88 policemen went straight to the second floor where they shot the suspected terrorist.

After the suspected terrorist's body was taken away , the Densus 88 team confiscated a server belonging to the shop which the man had used.

Following the police raid and the shooting of the suspected terrorist the Multiplus internet outlet was temporarily closed down. "After what has happened today, we have decided to close our internet outlet temporarily," Multiplus director Haryono Ginoto said.

The outlet's six employees had to be sent home because the police had set up a police line around the spot where the shooting took place and posted armed guards outside the shop.
