RF-US free-style wrestling match to be held in Nalchik.

NALCHIK, March 9 (Itar-Tass) - The second-ever match between the
leading members of the free-style wrestling teams of the Russian
Federation (RF) and the United States is to be held here on Tuesday,
March 9, an official in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic presidential and
government press service told Itar-Tass on Monday.
"The Russian team will include such prominent athletes as Bilyal
Makhov, Anzor Urishev, Mulid Lampezhev, Aniuar Geduyev, and Arsen Mairov,"
the press service official said. The US will be represented by Samuel
Hazewinkle, Teyon Ware, Trent Polson, Michael Poeta, and Jacob Herbert.
Each team will field ten sportsmen, the press service official added.
The match is to be attended by Mikhail Mamiashvili and Georgy Bryusov,
president and vice-president of the RF Wrestling Federation, and Dzambulat
Tedeyev and Christaki Alexandridi, chief and senior coaches of the RF
free-style wrestling team, (respectively) as guests of honour.

.RF, 18 UN members pool efforts against trade in humans.

UNITED NATIONS, March 9 (Itar-Tass) - A special Group of Friends has
been set up at the UN to pool efforts against trade in humans.
The Group includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and another 16 UN
Member-Nations that actively come out against the contemporary forms of
slave-trade, said a letter, addressed to the UN Secretary-General and to
the President of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly, and
circulated here on Monday.
The Group of Friends is an open, informal and voluntary association
established with a view to contributing to the step-up of global fight
against trade in humans. At present, trade in humans as a variety of
criminal activities has acquired scope that is comparable to trafficking
in weapons, narcotics, and diamonds, the message pointed out.
The Group suggests as a specific measure aimed at strengthening the
role of the UN in the fight against that evil to work out a global Action
Plan to combat trade in humans. In the letter, the members of the newly
founded association set out possible basic elements of such a plan. In
their proposals on a future Action Plan, the Group members pointed out the
need more actively to invite new players to join in this work, such as
civil society, the media, and private businesses.
Along with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, the Group of Friends also
includes Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as
India and Egypt.

.Putin to chair meeting Tue on funding of nat'l programs.

MOSCOW, March 9 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is
to chair a meeting here on Tuesday to examine the concepts of seventeen
Federal purpose-oriented programmes in such fields as social
infrastructure, the development of high technologies, housing, and
security.
The press service of the Government of the Russian Federation has
announced, "During the meeting, it is planned to consider the concepts of
17 new Federal purpose-oriented programmes, which are being worked out,
and four subprogrammes which, it is suggested, are to be implemented
resultant of Federal budget resources, beginning from 2011, as well as
drafts of three new editions of the current Federal purpose-oriented
programmes with their implementation period extended until 2015".
"The above-mentioned programmes are aimed at solving the key tasks and
at attaining concrete goals of the country's socio-economic development
with due regard for the priorities that were set in the Budgetary Message
of the President of Russia about budgetary policy in 2010-2012, in the
Concept of a long-term socio-economic development of the RF for a period
ending in 2020, as well as in the Basic Orientations for government
activities in the period until 2012," a press service official pointed out.
The programmes are to be implemented within the scope of such
priorities as Social Infrastructure, the Development of High Technologies,
Housing, and Security.
