CENTRAL ACEH OPTIMISTIC TO BECOME SELF-RELIANT IN FOOD BY 2014

Banda Aceh, Mar 10 (ANTARA) - The Central Aceh regency administration was optimistic it would become self-reliant in food supply, including corn, soybean, meat and rice by 2014.

"Central Aceh is fertile with serious farmers and government support," Central Aceh regency Nasaruddin said in Takengon Wednesday.

On the sidelines of the maiden harvest of hybrid corn in Ketol subdistrict, the regent in the company of spokesman for the Central Aceh regency administration Windi Darsa said the government continued encouraging the farmers to cultivate neglected land with beneficial crops.

In meat production, he said an integrated farm is currently being developed in Ketapang.
