MORE DEAD VICTIMS IN CIANJUR LANDSLIDE
Bandung, March 12 (ANTARA) - A joint rescue team on Friday morning found another dead victim in the landslide location in Ciawi Tali hamlet, Sukamekar village, Cianjur district, West Java.
Up till now, seven dead victims had been found in the disaster site, and three were still missing.
According to information from a member of the rescue team, the recently found body was identified as Nurfadli (40).
Previous the dead bodies found were identified as Listi (10), Pipih (25), Yanti (12), Jujun (55), Acih (45) and Adnan (7).
Ciawi Tali hamlet was hit by a landslide on Thursday (March 11) after hours of torrential rains The landslide destroyed four houses including their occupants.
As of 08.15 pm local time, the residents still tried to find the still buried.
Besides destroying four houses, the landslide from a 70 meter-high cliff also cut off the main road linking Sukamekar village and neighboring areas.
Suryana, a police officer of Sukanagara police precinct, said most of the people chose to stay at home during the heavy rainfall.
Therefore, when they suddenly heard the rumbling of the landslide at about 05.30 pm, some failed to leave their homes, he said.
Local residents worked hand-in-hand with the military and police in searching for the landslide victims still buried in the rubble of the destroyed houses Thursday evening.

Over the past two months, various areas in West Java Province have continuously been showered by heavy rains.
As a result, floods and landslides occurred in some districts, including Bandung and Garut.
