PRESIDENT ASKS FOR MINISTERS' INPUTS TO ANSWER DPR'S LETTER

Jakarta, March 15 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked for inputs from ministers concerned to respond to the House of Representatives' (DPR) letter regarding the Bank Century inquiry committee's recommendations, a minister said.

Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi said here on Monday the letter from the DPR had been submitted to the President.

"And the President has given directives to the ministers concerned to immediately give their inputs or suggestions and response to the DPR letter," he said.

Sudi said the President had asked the ministers who had been named by the House inquiry committee to immediately respond to his request.

Sudi would not comment on the DPR letter in which former central bank governor Boediono, now vice president, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani as the then chair of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) are mentioned as the ones responsible for the decision to bail out Bank Century in 2008.

"To put it plainly, the Pesident has asked the ministers concerned to give their response to the DPR's letter," he said.

Sudi would not tell which ministers had been asked to give a response to the DPR letter.

Last week, the DPR sent a letter to the President regarding the recommendations the House Bank Century Inquiry Committee had made in connection based on its investigation into the bailout case.

The committee had concluded that irregularities, banking and other law violations had happened in the bailing out process.
