FOREIGN AMBASSADORS BELIEVE ACEHNESE CULTURE NOT SIDING WITH TERRORISM

Banda Aceh, Mar 15 (ANTARA) - Foreign Ambassadors in Jakarta acknowledged that the culture of the people in Aceh province did not support terrorism.

"The ambassadors of several other countries said in a meeting with me that they firmly believed that the culture of the people of Aceh did not support terrorism," Aceh deputy governor Muhammad Nazar said here Monday.

Muhammad Nazar made the remark after attending a meeting for handing over a financial note and a 2010 Draft Aceh State Budget here.

In the meeting with ambassadors in Jakarta last week Muhammad Nazar said they wished the Indonesian government would solve the problem of terrorism quickly and once and for all.

The raids by the anti-terrorist special police squad (Densus 88) and Aceh organic police personnel managed to arrest 31 suspects in various regions in Aceh in the last few weeks.

Besides those caught alive, the police has also shot dead some of them in raids in Aceh.
