SECOND MERCY MALAYSIA TEAM TO HEAD FOR CHILE

KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- Mercy Malaysia will deploy a six-member
team to Constitucion city in Chile on Thursday for three weeks to provide health
relief to survivors of the recent earthquake which left nearly 800 people dead.

This will be the second team sent, Mercy Malaysia said in a statement.

"A team comprising two doctors, two nurses, one psycho-social specialist and
one logistician will assist the local public health services in Constitucion,"
it said.

Mercy Malaysia's initial assessment team to the impoverished seaside town
returned to Malaysia Monday.

The assessment team made up of Mercy Malaysia relief operations chief Dr
Paul Mettler and executive council member Dr Heng Aik Cheng found that health
services in Constitucion were badly coordinated.

"The team discovered that there is an overcrowding of patients in the health
centre in Constitucion," Mercy Malaysia president Dr Ahmad Faizal Perdaus said.
