UAE, BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA KEEN ON BOOSTING TIES
By Abdul Muin Majid
DUBAI, March 17 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bosnia and
Herzegovina have identified sectors for cooperation that include alternative
energy, agriculture, infrastructure and tourism, as well as ways to strengthen
bilateral trade relations.
There are several investment opportunities in Bosnia that are considered
strategic for investors from this Gulf nation, according to UAE's Minister of
Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri.
He highlighted infrastructure as one of them, with Bosnia planning to build
1,000km of roads to enhance connectivity with Central Europe and Balkan
countries.
The matters were discussed during a meeting between the Emirati minister
and the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to UAE, Radomir Kosic, the outcome
of which was made available to the media.
They also touched on possible cooperation in the field of tourism in which
the UAE has extensive experience.
Agriculture was another area of discussion, with the UAE showing interest
in Bosnia's efforts to produce organic fruits and vegetables on a large scale.
Al Mansouri observed that the Balkan state-owned huge water resources had
made commendable progress in tapping alternative energy sources.
"As active members of the International Renewable Energy Agency, the UAE
and Bosnia and Herzegovina can cooperate and exchange experiences," he said.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was the scene of a devastating war in the 1990s
linked to the break-up of Yugoslavia.
