HUNDREDS OF HECTARES OF FARM LAND IN CIREBON INUNDATED

Sumber, Mar 18 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of hectares of farmland in Mekarsari and Gunungsari villages, Waled subdistrict, Cirebon regency, were flooded following incessant heavy rains from Wednesday afternoon to late in the night.

But on Thursday, the flood waters in the two villages had much receded.

The floods which were the third time in the village in the last two months, not only inundated rice fields but also tens of hectares of sugar cane plantations in the two villages and hundreds of house.

The floods were also caused by the overflow of nearby Ciberes river, which happened only in this year's rainy season since the construction of the Kanci-Pejagan toll road, as the project crossed the river.

Idrus said this time the floods caused hundreds of millions in material loss.
