RUPIAH WEAKENS 13 POINTS AGAINST US DOLLAR

Jakarta, March 18 (ANTARA) - The rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market here on Thursday morning as investors capitalized on the local currency's elevated position following its rallies over the past few days.

The Indonesian currency traded Rp9,113-Rp9,123 per US dollar, up 13 points from Rp9,100-Rp9,110 per US dollar at the market's close a day earlier.
The rupiah's depreciation was relatively small as investors noticed that foreign funds inflow into the domestic market was increasing, according to Rully Nova, a foreign exchange analyst of PT Bank Himpunan Saudara Tbk.

He believed that the local unit still had a chance to move upward further and might pass the level of Rp9,100 per US dollar.
