GLOBAL DYNAMICS TO CONTINUE AFFECTING RUPIAH : MINISTER

Jakarta, March 18 (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the rupiah's exchange rate would likely still be influenced by global and regional dynamics for some time in the future.

"Countries affected by the crisis will conduct an exit strategy as of the second quarter of 2010," she said at an Economic and Politial Outlook 2010 Citi Indonesia seminar here on Thursday.

She said the impact of the recent crisis had caused a huge deficit in the budgets of the affected countries.

"The US has said it will not as yet conduct an exit strategy but actually its budget is already bleeding," she said.

At the regional level, Sri Mulyani said, battles are still continuing between the US dollar and the Chinese yuan. She said China now holds a huge amount of dollars.

"The dynamics will possibly also be risks to our exchange rate," she said.

Regarding the economic policies the government would take in 2010 she said there would be no surprises.

"There will be no surprise macro- or micro-economic policies," she said.

She said 2010 would be a momentum for maintaining and expediting economic growth.

"The theme for 2010 as the President has said is debottlenecking and acceleration through various instruments," she said.***
