Meanwhile, global crude oil prices were trading below USD
82 a barrel in London Friday.
The Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference rate for
the dollar at Rs 45.48 and for the euro at Rs 61.89.
In cross currency trade, the domestic currency improved
further against the pound and the euro while recovered against
the Japanese Yen.
The rupee hardened against the pound to end at Rs
68.93/95 per pound from yesterday's close of Rs 69.42/44 and
also strengthened against the euro to finish at Rs 61.69/71
per euro from Rs 62.10/12 previously.
It, however, recouped against the yen to Rs 50.30/32 per
100 yen from its last close of Rs 50.34/36.
The rupee premium for the forward dollar settled
marginally lower on sustained stray receivings by exporters.
The benchmark six-month forward dollar premium payable in
August softened to 59-1/2-61 paise from 60-1/2-62 paise on
Thursday and far-forward maturing in February closed lower at
122-124 paise from 124-126 paise previously. PTI VMP
