LDALL HEADLEY 2 LAST

Headley's guilty plea "is a crucial step forward in our
efforts to achieve justice for more than 160 people who lost
their lives in the Mumbai terrorist attacks," US Attorney
General Eric Holder said.

"Working with our domestic and international partners, we
will not rest until all those responsible for the Mumbai
attacks and the terror plot in Denmark are held accountable,"
he said.
Holder said Headley was providing "valuable intelligence"
about terrorist activities. "As this case demonstrates, we
must continue to use every tool available to defeat terrorism
both at home and abroad."
In Pakistan, Headley had attended five terrorist training
camps run by the LeT between 2002 and 2003, according to his
plea agreement which was submitted by US Attorney, Patrick
J FitzGerald, before the court last night.
He took part in a three-week course in February 2002
which provided indoctrination on the merits of waging 'jehad',
next he participated in a three-week course in August 2002 to
get training in the use of weapons and grenades.
Headley learnt about close combat tactics, the use of
weapons and grenades and survival skills during a three-month
course which started in April 2003. He got training in
counter-surveillance skills in August 2003 and received combat
and tactical training in December 2003.
The plea agreement also proves beyond doubt the direct
connection between LeT and al-Qaeda.
According to it, a retired Pakistani Major, Abdur
Rehman Hashim Syed (Abdur Rehman), also known as 'Pasha', told
Headley that if LeT did not help him in carrying out an attack
against the Danish newspaper, he would get someone else.
Although not identified by name at that time, Headley
later learnt that this individual was co-defendant Ilyas
Kashmiri.
Abdur Rehman previously had told Headley that he had
been working with Kashmiri who was in direct contact with a
senior leader of al-Qaeda, the agreement said.
The Obama Administration said the US would share with
India all information related to Headley, son of a former
Pakistani diplomat and a Philadelphia socialite. PTI YAS
