MALAYSIAN PM HOPES POLITICAL STABILITY RETURNS TO THAILAND
KUALA LIPIS (Malaysia), March 20 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak
has expressed the hope that political stability will return to Thailand.
The prime minister said that as Malaysia's close neighbour, political
stability in Thailand is important to the country.
"This is an internal matter so I don't wish to say much. We hope that this
will not affect us. So far, it has not," he told reporters after opening the
Rural and Regional Development Ministry's 50th anniversary at Lipis Square,
here Saturday.
Asked whether Malaysia would step up security at the border, Najib said so
far the crisis had not affected the security of the people in the country.
"The security measures (at the border) are sufficient but we will keep track
of the situation," he said.
Thailand is mired in fresh crisis after tens of thousands of anti-government
protesters took position in the capital city, Bangkok, to pressure the
government to dissolve parliament and call a fresh poll.
