PKS CADRES HOLD RALLY TO EXPRESS SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINIANS' PLIGHT

Semarang, C Java, March 21 (ANTARA) - Thousands of Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) cadres in the Central Java city of Semarang staged a rally on Sunday in a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people who continue to face Israeli aggression.

The PKS cadres came not only from Semarang but also from environs including Kendal, Demak and Salatiga towns.

The protesters marched about five kilometers from Jalan Menteri Supeno to Tugu Muda Monument, carrying Palestinian and PKS flags.

They also unfurled banners reading among others "Israelis Are Not Humans", "Palestine's Sorrow Is Indonesia's" and "Israel the Real Terrorist".

The rally's coordinator, Fris Dwi Yulianto, said the rally was aimed at showing solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli arrogance.

"We only want to inform the world that the Palestinians have brothers in Indonesia who care about and pay heed to their plight," Yulianto said.

Israeli aggression had claimed many lives of Palestinians and must be stopped soon, he said.

"On Friday (March 19), Israeli soldiers banned Palestinian men under the age of 50 from performing religious services in Al Quds and planned to change it into a military base," he said.
