TWO KILLED, 14 INJURED IN NGAWI ROAD ACCIDENT

Ngawi, E Java, March 21 (ANTARA) - Two persons were killed and 14 others sustained injuries in an accident between a bus full of passengers and a truck on Ngawi-Solo main road, Kebon village, Paron sub-district, Ngawi district, East Java, Sunday.

The fatal accident occurred between the "Rosalia Indah" public bus plying the Jakarta-Surabaya route with license plate AD-1407-AU and a truck license plate AB-8022-UB carrying bicycle components and parts.

The dead victims were identified as Suwarto, the truck driver, who is a resident of Solo, Central Java, and the a bus passenger Sri Handayani, Cilegon resident, West Java province.

In the meantime, the injured victims were rushed to two hospitals, the Suroto Ngawi general hospital and Widodo Ngawi hospital.

"At the moment, we were driving from Solo, Central Java, to Ngawi. Suddenly from the opposite direction a speeding truck loaded with bike componentsw and spareparts and tilted before hitting the bus," said Edi, one of the bus crew members.

Traffic police was still investigating the cause of the accident and seeking information from witnesses.
