CAR CATCHES FIRE IN JAKARTA DENSE TRAFFIC
Jakarta, March 22 (ANTARA) - A car caught fire at Rasuna Said Road, Kuningan, South Jakarta, amid Monday morning's dense traffic, but the driver managed to leave the burning car on time, a policeman said.
Sawaludin of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police traffic directorate said a short circuit might have been the cause of the fire that destroyed the car with license late B 1694 CR.
Smoke came out of the bonnet when the car was passing in front of the Polish Embassy, he said.
The 15-minute fire attracted the attention of lots of motorists and caused a traffic jam.
The accident was now under police investigation, he said.
On the same day, a motorist was rushed to Pertamina hospital after his motorbike collided with a taxi at Trunojoyo Street, South Jakarta.
The motorist survived but was seriously wounded on his legs and arms, Sawaludin said.
