Small scale urban development project expands to two districts
(KPL) - Two rural urban districts of southernmost provinces will be developed after Government made a decision to operate the small scale urban development project.
The project will operate in Lamam district of Sekong province and
Samakhisay district of Attapeu province.
This project has so far operated in 10 districts counting for 92 percent
which is expected to be completed by mid-next year.
Mr Fongsamoud Saychandy, Head of the small scale urban development project
disclosed that the project was implementing in 12 districts nationwide which
was funded by Asian Development Bank worth US$16 million, and contributed by
Government about US$4 million.
The project has started since 2004, which focused on improving
infrastructure with the progress of 92 percent, while Samnua district,
Houaphanh province, and Paek district, Xieng Khouang province were reported
implemented by 100 percent.
The completed project in these two districts was handed over to local
administration mid-June.
There are some works are being practiced in eight focal districts namely
Paksan district, Borikhamsay province, Vangvieng district, Vientiane
province, Say district of Oudomsay province, Luang Namtha district of Luang
Namtha province, Luang Prabang district and Laung Prabang province, Houaysay
district of Bokeo province, Phongsaly district and Phongsaly province,
Saravane district of Saravane province are being conduced.
The works are being carried out including road improvement, drainage
system, traffic light, and garbage disposal dump and rubbish vehicle.
